Pheasants like other animals are creatures of habit and routine. They follow a specific order of activities
during the day. In the early morning they will leave their roosts. They prefer short to medium grass for this purpose.
The first order of business for a pheasant is food. They can be seen in the early morning hours just after first light
near road sides or other areas were they can find grit, gravel, small rocks, and such as this is how they digest their food.
Next they will head to the grain fields for a good meal. They will still be feeding when the shooting hours begin.
By late morning they will be looking for cover, at this time they are most likely to be found in the densest thickest cover they can find.
By late afternoon they will be coming back to their feeding area where you can be ready and waiting. The first and last shooting hours are consistently the best times to hunt pheasants.
